Learners from Liberty College’s Hospitality and Catering programme, brought skill, teamwork, and community spirit to the forefront during a special visit to Faversham Community Centre, where they prepared and served fresh soup and homemade brownies for the annual Pensioners’ Big Lunch.
The students at the Margate Post-16 SEN college worked together to produce a warm, comforting meal for residents, gaining invaluable hands‑on experience while contributing to an event that holds great meaning for the community.
Their freshly made soup and indulgent brownies were warmly received by attendees, with many expressing appreciation for the students’ efforts and enthusiasm.
Taking part in the cooking and service session allows learners to put their practical hospitality and catering skills into action in a real‑world environment. From food preparation and kitchen organisation, to customer service and professional presentation, the experience offered students a chance to develop confidence and apply their training outside the classroom.
The college’s Hospitality & Catering tutor praised the learners’ dedication: “Opportunities like this are essential for building practical skills and confidence. We’re incredibly proud of how our learners represented the college and supported such a worthwhile cause.”
