Liberty College Learners visit Kent Countryside Careers Fair

Learners from Liberty College’s Land-Based Studies programme, currently studying the Level 2 Garden Design course, recently attended the Kent Countryside Careers Fair at Detling, Maidstone.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for learners to explore the wide range of careers available within the land-based sector. Throughout the day, they engaged with a variety of employers, organisations, and businesses representing industries across Kent, including agriculture, farming, animal care, and conservation.

The event enabled the young people to gain valuable insight into apprenticeship schemes, further training opportunities, and potential progression pathways, helping to inform their future career planning. The experience proved both inspiring and educational, supporting their understanding of real-world career routes linked to their studies.

During the visit, learners were able to:

• Explore a diverse range of countryside and land-based career pathways
• Engage directly with local employers and industry professionals
• Learn about apprenticeships, further education, and progression opportunities
• Develop employability awareness, supporting Gatsby Benchmark objectives
• Gain practical insight into careers connected to their curriculum learning

The trip was a beneficial experience, encouraging learners to consider their future aspirations within the thriving land-based sector.

Liberty College, based in Margate,  works with young people who have a range of needs from autism spectrum disorder to oppositional behaviour disorder.
