Students at Liberty College Margate, which works with Post 16 SEND learners, have taken part in an interactive first aid course designed to equip them with practical skills for real‑world situations.
Led by experienced trainer Heather, the session provided a supportive and engaging environment where learners could develop essential life‑saving abilities while growing in confidence.
Throughout the course, Heather introduced the young people to the fundamentals of first aid, covering key areas such as assessing a situation, responding to minor injuries, and understanding how to act calmly and effectively during an emergency.
The emphasis on practical, hands‑on activities ensured that participants were fully involved—practicing techniques, working through scenarios, and building problem‑solving skills together.
One student, who hopes to pursue a future career in care, said she was “pleased to learn a new skill that will help me in my future career.”
Heather’s supportive approach encouraged everyone to ask questions, try new skills, and learn at their own pace. By the end of the session, learners not only walked away with practical first aid knowledge but also a stronger sense of responsibility and awareness—skills that are relevant both in daily life and in unexpected situations.
A Liberty College spokesperson said: “ (The) team is proud of the enthusiasm and teamwork shown by all participants. This training marks another step in empowering learners with abilities that truly matter.”
