We are excited to offer the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme (DofE) at Liberty College to give our learners the opportunity to take part in the world’s leading youth achievement award. Through our DofE programme, learners will experience new activities and learn new skills while developing their independence, resilience, teamwork skills and their community values along the way.

Liberty has been running the DofE programme since 2019. Every Liberty learner has the opportunity to take part in Duke of Edinburgh at Liberty College as an additional qualification alongside their course. Learners will have the option to complete the Duke of Edinburgh at Bronze or Silver award levels.

Learners design their own program by choosing activities in each of the following areas:

  • Volunteering: Making a difference in your local community. Activities include conservation, peer mentoring, or charity fundraising.
  • Physical: Improving fitness and performance in a sport, dance, or fitness activity.
  • Skills: Discovering or developing a personal interest. Popular options include learning to drive, playing a musical instrument, photography, or cooking.
  • Expedition: Planning, training for, and completing a hike through the countryside. This involves route planning, map reading, and an overnight camp with your team.
