Skills Centre

Liberty College is based in a fantastic new centre at Westwood Cross in Margate, which is easily accessible as the bus stop is only a few minutes walk from the centre.

Inside our training centre, you will find friendly and comfortable surroundings with Wi-Fi throughout that you can use during your breaks.  Our centre is fully accessible with a lift and accessible toilet facilities.

The Skills Centre has 13 training rooms including a fully equipped Training Salon and Art Studio, there is also a purpose built Construction Workshop and Mechanics Workshop on site. We are also very proud of our Liberty College Allotment where our Horticulture and Land Based Construction learners spend much of their time.

The Grub Hub 

This is where our learners spend their break times and have their lunch.  There are comfortable sofas as well as dining tables and chairs.

The Chill Zone

This is where our learners spend their break times.   Liberty College has bean bags, comfortable chairs and sofas in all recreation areas and the Chill Zone also has pool tables, table football and games you can play if it's too cold to go outside.

The Zen Zone

If the Chill Zone is too noisy for you or you need a time out from lessons, the Zen Zone is a quiet area.  This is a safe space where you can have some time to calm and relax, away from any sensory overload. We have sensory support tools to help you regulate your emotions either with or without staff support.

The Cubbie

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, or just need some time to yourself? The Cubbie is a safe, quiet space where you can take a break and focus on your wellbeing.

Here you can:

  • Take time to calm your mind and body
  • Use self-help guides and wellbeing resources
  • Learn strategies to manage stress and emotions
  • Practise breathing and relaxation exercises
  • Reflect on how you're feeling
  • Build confidence and resilience at your own pace

Remember, everyone needs support sometimes. Taking time to regulate your emotions is a positive step towards looking after yourself.

The Nook

Looking for a cosy space to unwind? The Nook is a comfortable area where you can read, learn, and take some time for yourself.
Here you can:

  • Read books
  • Discover new topics and interests
  • Enjoy a quiet activity
  • Build your knowledge and confidence
  • Take a break from busy environments

Whether you want to learn something new, escape into a story, or simply enjoy some peace and quiet, The Nook is here for you.
Take your time, relax, and make yourself comfortable.

Calm Corner

Need a few minutes to slow down and relax? The Calm Corner is a quiet space where you can take a break from busy situations, manage your emotions, and focus on your wellbeing.

Here you can:

  • Take some deep breaths
  • Use sensory and calming resources
  • Read wellbeing tips and guides
  • Practise mindfulness and relaxation techniques
  • Have some quiet time to reflect

Remember, it's okay to take a break when you need one. Looking after your wellbeing is important

The Courtyard

We have a fabulous outdoor space where our learners can relax and eat lunch.  Our brand new Courtyard is fully accessible and equipped with picnic tables and benches where our learners can spend time with friends during their breaks.
