A dedicated team from Liberty College, Margate, will be taking on the iconic Three Peaks Challenge in May to raise vital funds for both the college and its long-standing charity partner, The Pumba Foundation.

The challenge will begin at 6:00am on Sunday 24th May, with the ascent of Ben Nevis in Scotland. Once completed, the team will travel directly to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike, before making their way to Wales to complete the final climb of Snowdon, aiming to finish by 6:00am on Monday 25th May. The event will see them climb the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales within a 24-hour period, testing endurance, teamwork, and resilience. 
As part of their training, the team recently completed the Surrey Peaks — Box Hill, Leith Hill, and Holmbury Hill — covering the same distance as the Three Peaks challenge, though without the extreme elevation required on the official mountains.

Supporting Communities at Home and Abroad
Liberty College works in close partnership with The Pumba Foundation, a charity based in South Africa that supports the rural village of Seven Fountains. Through this partnership, Liberty College contributes to educational support, food provision, and community development projects. In December, the college sent 170 Christmas boxes to children living in Seven Fountains, providing both festive joy and practical support for local families.

Funds raised through the Three Peaks Challenge will be shared between:

• Supporting the ongoing needs of the Seven Fountains community through The Pumba Foundation
• Enhancing the Duke of Edinburgh provision at Liberty College, including the purchase of tents, sleeping bags, and essential camping equipment for student expeditions
