Motiv8 is a 38 week programme focusing on employability, teamwork, motivation and group activities. The programme runs for 2 and a half days per week and is offered at Level 1 and 2 so you can choose to stay on this programme for a few years.

The course includes trips and activities which focus on confidence building and communication, and you can decide with your group what activities you would like to experience. Every group has a generous class budget to spend on trips and activities throughout the year, and you will help with the planning for your group’s chosen activity. Have a look at our activities page to see what kind of things we do.

You will start to work on your employability skills- that means how to get a job and how to keep it! This will include learning about how to write a CV, how to apply for a job, what to do in a job interview, work experience and much more.

You can get work related qualifications that will help you when you are ready to get a job, and to help you learn life skills, such as:

  • Level 1 Customer Service

  • Level 1 and 2 in Skills for Further Learning and Employment

  • Maths and English functional skills (we will look at what grades you already have and what level you are working at to help us choose the right level for you).

We have a dedicated team of functional skills tutors and functional skills teaching assistants to support and develop your maths and English or offer additional 1:1 interventions.

Functional Skills is built into the programme - we call this embedding. We try to think outside the box when we design our functional skills lessons, including games and activities to help you learn. For example, you might attend a murder mystery or plan a trip (and then get to go!)

All of our courses include:

  • Careers (including independent careers advice)
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Preparing for Adulthood
  • Personal Development Time
  • Reflection and Evaluation Sessions

These are part of our RARPA Curriculum, (this stands for Recognising And Recording Progress and Achievement) which is how we measure your progress in all areas not just in qualifications.

You will also have the opportunity to achieve extra qualifications relating to the type of job you would like to do. We do this in our Personal development Time, where you can do e-learning and distance learning in your chosen subjects with the support our staff team. For example, if you want to work in health and social care, you can do qualifications in safeguarding and infection control, or if you want to work with food, you can get a food hygiene certificate- and we will cover all the costs!

You also get to choose an exciting topic to study in our weekly Vocational Tasters.

We make sure you get Extra Support depending on your individual learning needs here at Liberty and while on work experience.

At the end of the programme a Celebration and Awards ceremony is held for you and your family or friends to attend. You will also get to go on more activities, including a final big day out with your group.
